About: What is “Preacher Dad”?

“Preach the Word. Be instant in season and out of season.” (2 Tim. 4:2)

“…in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you;” (1 Pet. 3:15)

PreacherDad.com exists to inspire & equip Christians to engage in the culture war and impact the next generation by proclaiming Christ.

Do you love your family? Me too.

Do you care about our culture and how it seems to be falling apart? Same here.

Do you want to know how the Bible can be applied to challenges we face in our families and society? Yep, I’m with you there.

I am here to preach the Word of the LORD to the Church of Christ. (Not the denomination, the literal, big “C”, people that follow Christ.) I believe the Lord has called me specifically to the country of the United States because it is there that the people of God are the most deceived and led astray. I believe he wants me to teach them “how to fear the Lord.”

I am also a husband and father and as such my first responsibility, my “first flock”, is my family. I am called to them first. I love them, and would die for them. But that doesn’t mean I have to stop being a preacher. I can do both. In the strength of the Lord, anointed by his Spirit and empowered by his Grace.

This blog is mainly about three areas:

Parenting:

Parents are heroes. Because it is hard work, and requires sacrifice and investment. But no matter how hard the work is to be a good parent, it’s so worth it! Being a Dad is incredible, and I wouldn’t trade my children for anything.

Having a large family presents us with the opportunity of seeing the results of our parenting across a large test group. We are seeking to apply Biblical ideas to our philosophy of parenting and I am willing to share our discoveries with you.

Politics:

Current events or culture would be more descriptive of this topic, but it didn’t start with a “P” so we threw them out. :o) Being “salt and light” in our society is the responsibility of every Christian. We cannot effectively do this if we are ignorant of current events or the forces shaping culture. We must vote, and we must vote according to Biblical values. This blog will help you to be informed and to apply Truth to culture.

Preparation:

To be prudent and remove ourselves and our families from danger, we must be alert and prepared. This is not for the purpose of hiding in a fortress while the world burns, but so that we can be generous and help others when we hit T.E.O.T.W.A.W.K.I. should that ever happen before the LORD returns. Also our family simply wants to be more self-sufficient, and still be generous to our community, so we are seeking that lifestyle as much as possible.

Who are you, Preacher Dad?

My name is Jarod. Let me tell you a little of my story. (And what in the world is a “Preacher Dad?“)

I am a follower of, and a believer in, the Lord Jesus Christ. Before anything else can be understood about me, I must be known in that context. He is everything to me. He sustains all things (including me) by the Word of His power.

My wife also sustains my sanity. How did I catch such a treasure?

I sensed the call to preach when I was six years old. I have sought to follow that calling ever since. God has opened some interesting doors for me and I am a very blessed man. I preach whenever I have an audience or opportunity, be that an audience of one or one-thousand. I even tend to preach without meaning to.

I’ve always been a little goofball

What’s with all the pictures of kids?

I am also a dad. (Jokes and all!) The Lord has blessed my wife and I with 8 children here on earth, and 1 in Heaven already. It is an incredible joy to watch them grow and learn and discover! It is also an incredible stress to experience their sinfulness and help shape and mold their hearts and minds. To be responsible to point them to Jesus, and provide food and clothes also, is a task we do not take lightly.

Preacher Dad

In a nutshell, parenting is very hard work but it’s worth the effort. The return on this investment is very great.

The early days…

What are you doing here?

I enjoy writing and I have posted some of my work here for your encouragement, entertainment, and instruction. I like to think I am a simple guy, who understands things in a simple way. I have tried to make my writing understandable to even the most average, every day guy. Because I feel like an average guy. (Most days.)

I am a “Preacher Dad”. I preach. And I’m a dad. (And a husband too. Not meaning to leave you out, Sweetie, but “HusbandPreacherDad.com” was a little too much to remember.) I like stories, Star Wars, stunning sights in nature… and alliteration (though sometimes I give up on alliteration for the sake of clarity.)

Both my faith in Christ and my relationship with my family are a major part of what motivates me and guides my decisions. Maybe that describes you also?

What is your “why”?

I care about having an impact upon my family, and leading them in having an impact upon society as a whole. The best way to have a positive impact upon my family, and thereby the world, is through the Word of God. And so we come back to the sustaining power that holds all things together: the Word of God!
