023 – The Way Back
How do we come back from the precipice of destruction in which we find ourselves as a nation? How can we restore sanity to this insane world? Well, quite simply, we must apply Biblical principles to our society. From entertainment to entitlements, from police work to parks and rec…we have to return to our Christian roots. That is not to say every person must become a Christian (thought that would be great!) but to be a free people with a moral compass (which is what the United States has always been) we have to rediscover our foundations.
Listen as I describe the way in which I am seeking to do that in our community. Come on the journey with me as we learn.

Well, hello, everybody. Welcome to the Preacher Dad podcast. The second episode of 2022, and I’m glad to be here with you today. There’s quite a lot bouncing around in my head, but I wanted to, uh, just share a couple things, um, with you, my loyal listeners! First of all, the Preacher Dad podcast is brought to you by Trail Life.
That’s right. Trail Life is a great organization that my sons and I participate in. It is a scouting type organization that is Christ centered and. To teach young men, good character and Godly, um, Godly principles through adventure and leadership opportunities. We really have enjoyed being a part of it.
Um, done a lot of outdoor stuff together has been really fun. So we’ve really enjoyed being a part of that. And I encourage you to do it. If you have, uh, a young man between the ages of five years old and 18 years old, there is a place for him at Trail Life, and I encourage you to participate and get plugged in.
It’s a great way for your young men to, uh, to learn and to grow. And, uh, I encourage all of you dads out there, and moms really, to get your sons involved in it.
Also, this episode is sponsored by American Heritage Girls. American Heritage Girls is the sister organization to Trail Life, and in fact is the founding organization of Trail Life.
American Heritage Girls was first and the people that organize that founded Trail Life, but AHG is, um, the… it’s like the Christian alternative to Girl Scouts. Um, not that you can’t be a Christian and be a girl scout. They just tend to advance feminism in a, um, unbiblical way. Unbiblical feminism, really, in my opinion. But AHG is a great way to get your girls involved in learning about our country and growing as well and their character and leadership ability.
And, um, my girls are involved in AHG. And we have been enjoying that. They’re a little bit newer in it than the boys are. So, uh, we’re still starting that journey with the girls, but they really are enjoying it. And it’s something that’s fun for them. And, and it’s a good way to spend time together doing things that are eternally beneficial.
So I encourage you to do that. If you have children of the, of the right age, either Trail Life or American Heritage Girls is definitely worthwhile.
All right. I want to…. you know, there, there’s a lot of things that I have planned for this year. And, um, I wanted to briefly mention some of the things that you can look forward to on the Preacher Dad podcast. I have teased a couple of episodes ago, I teased you about, um, some episodes that are focused on what you can do to actively participate in the culture war.
How can you stand up and fight back? How can you make a difference in the name of Christ in our society to advance the gospel, the mans, the biblical cause to, uh, make a difference in our culture, especially in the civic arena. I have some ideas for you. There’s things that you could do.
And, um, I already mentioned, one is to vote. If you haven’t, if you don’t vote, you need to cause that’s a huge one. And honestly, you don’t need to get too many people around you to vote Biblical values, and, uh, we can start swaying in elections in a very, in a very significant way. But we got to get out there and get in the fight and we gotta be willing to persuade others to vote our way, basically, according to what we believe is Biblically right and true. We need to be strategic with our votes.
But in addition to voting, you can run for the school board. You could run for some other county or local elected office. Um, if you feel the Lord leading you to do that. But that’s not the only thing you can do.
You can also volunteer with campaigns. They’re always looking for people to help out in various ways. And, um, no, you don’t necessarily have to get on the phones and make phone calls. They’re other things you can do. Um, you can also write letters to the editor for your local newspaper. There’s various different things that people can do that will make a big difference for the sake of freedom, for the sake of Liberty, for the cause of Christ, who is the captain of our Liberty. We really are only free because of Him and our nation is what it is because of the principles of Scripture that we apply. So I really believe that’s true.
There’s another way that you can play a part, and that is what I’m doing this spring. I’m hosting a, uh, biblical citizenship course. It’s hosted by, or designed by, Patriot Academy, which is affiliated with Wall Builders, but, um, the Wall Builders ministry is very trustworthy, God honoring, biblically based ministry that seeks to restore the principles of the Bible, the principles of the constitution in our country.
So they have designed a course that they offer absolutely free of charge to anyone that wants to, all you have to do is sign up to be a constitution coach, and then they give you permission and training, as a matter of fact, to host that constitution class, either in your home or your church. And it’s called Biblical Citizenship in Modern America.
And it’s a class on the intent of the founders and, and what the constitution is designed to do what it is supposed to do and how it can be applied in modern time. And what are the biblical principles upon which our nation is founded and how can we return to those, and how can we make those part of our lives and part of our culture, our civilization in modern times today. This class is I think one of the ways in which we can help our friends and neighbors to understand the truth and to help our nation come back from the precipice.
And friends, we truly are on the precipice of, um, just unbelievable things. I won’t go into that right now, but trust me, um, I really believe the way back is not to run for Senate or to try to elect a different president. Although I think those things are worthwhile and we should pursue them. I’m certainly going to try to elect a new president in 2024.
But in the meantime, we also need to try to take back our local communities. And if the, um, the fights on school boards have not revealed that, I’m not sure what will. The school board fights that have taken place, um, here in the past few months have just made very evident the fact that, uh, the progressive left is making inroads into local communities.
And in many, many cases has already have… already has a very strong foothold there. So pushing back against that, what does that look like? Well, it looks like trying to persuade, um, our neighbors of the truth, persuade them of, you know, what is, what is right and what is wrong and, um, helping them to think principally based upon the Bible and upon the Constitution.
How do we do that? Well, one way is to just have them over for dinner. Have them over for dinner and just talk, and let the conversation go where it goes. But another way is to host a Biblical Citizenship class. It is…I am very much looking forward to it. The few sessions I have heard already have been excellent.
Um, some of the very best speakers on these subjects have been lined up and, uh, on videotape. And, uh, I’m really looking forward to plugging into that and being a part of it. And I’d encourage you to go to biblicalcitizenship.com or just do a duck duck, go search for Biblical Citizenship in Modern America, or you could go to preacherdad.com.
And hopefully by the time this podcast is broadcast, um, we’ll have some links there where you can find a biblical citizenship course in your community. And if you can’t find one, you can maybe host one. Or if you live in my community, you can come and do it with me. But I really think that this is one of the ways that we need to get our nation back.
And I’m looking forward to, um, to doing that. I’m looking forward to sharing that journey with you. Um, so far it’s been pretty user-friendly and I’m looking forward to our first class starting February the 3rd. So that should be an exciting time. And, um, I look forward to sharing some of the things that I learned with you, my podcast audience here.
So I look forward to sharing that with you. That’s one way in which we can make a difference, make a difference. Um, what was the other thing? I can’t… Mr Producer, do you remember, um, what that other subject was that we were going to bring up? Well, we’ll have to get it another time. Mr. Producer is out to get coffee, he’s not even in the booth there.
What am I saying? There’s no, booth! I am Mr. Producer! There’s nobody else. It’s just you and me. We’re here together. We’re working together trying to save our country, bless our families, help our… help our community come back to Jesus.
All right, well, stay in the fight out there. Don’t lose hope. We still have hope in Christ. No question about it. Oh, I remembered what it was going to be. Thank you, Mr. Producer. Good job.
Um, I was going to give a little piece of it. I’ve started setting goals or the past several years of my life, and this year I’m more organized than I ever have been about planning how to achieve those goals. So it’s good to set goals and then try to get to them.
But if you can plan out your year… plan out, um, month by month, what needs to be accomplished in order for those goals to be realized, then you can start planning out week by week, you can, even in some cases get down to day by day, um, you know, be able to see, okay, this is where I need to be by this time. You need to set a date for accomplishing these goals and then work backwards about how much you need to do so this year, one of my goals is to, um, memorize the book of James with my family.
There’s 108 verses in the book of James. And if you divide that up by 12, you get nine verses a month, nine verses every month. Now that may seem incredibly daunting to some of you. “Whoa. That’s more than two every week!” Um, yeah, but it’s not unbearable. It’s you could, if you, if you sat down and try, I think that most people could memorize nine Bible verses in a month, if you gave some time to it.
And that’s the key, you got to set a date and you’ve got to give some time to it. So I guess I just want to encourage you to set those goals here. It is January big time goal setting, set those goals and, and, um, plan to accomplish them by setting a date and work backwards and try to… figure out what you need to do each, each month and each week. Whether it’s a saving goal or whether it’s a, um, some kind of, uh, a weight loss goal, you could figure out what you gotta do every month.
That’s, uh, makes those things more achievable and it gives you momentum when you achieve them. And you’re on track and you’re on. Uh, you realize that you’re on schedule to accomplish those things, then, uh, it kind of gives you some momentum and some excitement when you’re achieving those. So anyway, there you go.
Goal setting advice. Not a lot of biblical… not a lot of biblical perspectives today, but I trust that you will see the wisdom here and that you will go out there and try to implement it in your life.
All right, God bless you. I hope that all of this works well in your life. I hope that we can, uh, walk this journey together and enjoy it and I’ll catch you on next time.
All right. Bye-bye .
