Intro: Here we have the first instance of the Word of God bringing forth life.

Order and Structure

  • All minerals, metals, rocks, soil, etc. was mixed with water throughout the whole earth.
    • God divided everything and brought order to a chaotic situation.
    • Aluminum, Iron (used to make steel), Cooper, Salt, Gold, Silver,
      1. Aluminum is the most abundant metallic element in the Earth’s crust. Bauxite ore is the main source of aluminum. Aluminum is used in automobiles and airplanes (36%), bottling and canning industries (25%), building and electrical (14%) and in other applications (25%).
      1. Boron compounds are used for many different purposes in industry and the home. Boron is used to make glass, ceramics, enamels, fiberglass, make water softeners, soaps and detergents. Other uses are in agricultural chemicals, pest controls, fire retardants, fireworks, medicine, and various minor applications. Boron nitride is one of the hardest known substances and is used for abrasives and cutting tools.
      1. Calcium – The primary use of calcium is not in its silvery-white metal form, but as calcium carbonate. It used in adhesives and sealants, cosmetics, foods, paint, paper, pharmaceuticals, plastics, rubber, for the production of lime, and as crushed stone in construction. Immense quantities of calcium are found in sedimentary rock deposits of gypsum, limestone, and shale.
    • Illust: When we are saved from hell, God doesn’t just leave us there. He continues to bring order and purity to our lives. We grow in grace.

Richness and Beauty

  • All trees, crops, flowers, herbs, grasses… were made in one day. First living things.
    • Created them fully formed and aged. (Just like Adam and Eve.)
    • Think of the intricate design that goes into just one leaf! Think of the beauty that we find in the world of plants!
      • Autumn, Flowers, Forests, Coral Reefs – It is all a masterpiece of creation!
    • Think of the significance of plants to our daily life. To every breath!
      • Photosynthesis
    • God didn’t make a world that is bland and boring. He created a place that is rich in beauty and full of life.
      • Teaches us that God values beautiful things, is artistic and detailed.
      • God is interested in more than just plain survival. He wants us to live abundant and joyful lives…full of beauty for beauty’s sake.

God’s Providence

  • Plants – Designed plants to use sunlight and CO2 to provide oxygen and usable energy to humans and animals…before humans and animals, and even the sun, were created.
    • Earth – God was preparing the tools we would need to bring him glory and live in our world.
    • God guides and watches over every detail of our lives. He providentially directs events so that they will bring about the greatest good in our lives, and allow us to know him in intimate ways.
      • Ps. 139:2-4, 16
