Recent Happenings
Well, I actually have a lot to say. And for that reason I have avoided posting much lately. It’s like I knew it would take a long time to do this, so I kept putting it off. OH well…..such is the life of a preacher I guess. Here is an update on our lives, and some of my thoughts of late. Enter at your peril!
Irony – It’s very interesting to me that after a good bit of research and thought that went into my last post, and my determination to support Fred Thompson for President, he promptly dropped out of the race. With that in mind, I’d like to try something in the hopes it will have the same effect. After much thought, I have decided to endorse the candidacy of John McCain. Seems like the rest of the world is selling out their principles (if they ever had them) so why shouldn’t I?
Just kidding of course. I think, ironically, that I am going to end up voting for Gov. Huckabee. He only has a prayers hope of winning, or even contesting, but it’s a hope I must cling too considering the rest of the field. Huckabee still concerns me, and I don’t have a ton of confidence in him yet, but he is the best choice at this point in my opinion. (Not wishing to be too harsh on the Governor, but that is the truth.) I would encourage everyone out there who has a primary on Super Dooper Tuesday to vote for Gov. Huckabee. And please let McCain’s presidential hopes fall to the ground where they belong. He is about the worst Republican I can think of to run against Mrs. Clinton. I’m pretty sure he would lose to her. Conservatives win elections. John McCain only has a sliver of conservatism in his body, and that’s not much to hope in. It frustrates me to no end that he is doing so well.
Life Changes – We are expecting to move soon. Before Summer. The reason? Well it seems that the Lord is directing us to go. The Elders of our church here feel that God is directing them not to renew the interim period. It’s not that I’ve done anything wrong, or really even that the Elders want me to go. They just sense God’s leading, and are peaceful about it. And are unanimous. I am also. (Peaceful that is. Though Anna is also with me in all this, so in that sense I guess we’re unanimous.) So at the end of March my time here will be over, if not before. We are praying about what God has for us in the future. What’s the next step God? What’s our next assignment Captain? He hasn’t said yet, but we’re seeking Him. We’d appreciate your prayers about this also. This has been a wonderful two years for me. (Wow, if that isn’t a hugely understated…ah….statement.)
Creepy Homeschoolers – I found another comedian that I found to be very funny. He did a satire/parody (what’s the difference?) on homeschoolers that I thought was quite amusing. Trust me, our family got our share of “that’s weird” looks. Any way, enjoy!
Here’s a great video made by a few “creepy” homeschoolers I like a lot….
Hoosier Daddy – I really enjoy being a father. It is wonderful to look down at little Zeke and know that he is mine. What is really great is when he looks at me right after I get home from work, and recognizes me….then smiles. Well it like to make a papa’s chest pop! I can’t believe how good God has been to me in every way. I guess I’ll post an audio sermon here for y’all to listen to. If you’d like to have the notes, just send me a message. God bless!
Great post Jarod! A nice update! You got me for a minute (well..a second 😉 ) on the MicCain thing 🙂 I think all of us over here are polling for Romney now that Thompson is out.
Nasia and I really liked the homeschool video too 🙂

Hi Jarod! You had me going there for a minute, too! I was really getting worried! We are voting for Huckabee, too. We are “HuckaRangers” and have made over a 100 calls to prospective registered voters. It has been fun! (a few hang-ups and all! )
About your move: when God closes one door, He always opens another. All things work together for good to them that love God. It is amazing to me how God directs the lives of those who do love Him. He has wonderful plans for your little family and I am sure you will be amazed at where God will plant you next!
I didn’t watch your clips yet, or listen to sermon, but I will tomorrow. I got up with baby Destiny to feed her, (it’s 1:30 am) checked in with xanga to see what’s going on, but didn’t want anyone to hear me. We are having a major snow storm right now, so we wont be able to get out in the morning for church. Tomorrow will be a good day to hear your sermon!
Have you ever heard of Brother Denny? I highly recommend his series for families called, The Godly Home Series. You will love them! They are not at all doctrinal, but are totally Christian living in the home! We have been so blessed by these messages and it just occured to me that you would be, too! Check them out at: http://www.charityministries.org They are free, too!
Well, Destiny is back in her bed now, so I better sign off and say “Bye” for now!
God bless you, Jared!
ROFL!! I love that xango… umm… advertisement. The homeschool family one is great too; I have seen that one quite a few times.
May the Lord bless you all as He leads you into the unknown, but not unknown to Him, future!
Take a second look at Romney Jarod. Might talk to Dad… he has some good insight having worked with both Romney and Huckabee when he was at Heritage. Good update and good talking to you tonight.
i’ll definitely be in prayer for you, bro.
i don’t know who to support in this election either. Huckabee is kinda solid…i don’t know about mccain.
My question on Huckabee is whether he will be able to choose his battles carefully enough, and if he will be able to build enough of a consensus around his goals and ideas. I don’t see either of those being his strong point.
Jarod, I received a link from a friend…think I might help in the finding someone to vote for problem… http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/candidate-match-game.htm Happy hunting!! Love ya!
Hey, brutha man daddy! Katie told me about your momentous decision, so I thought I’d at least try to boost your confidence in supporting the good governor, seeing how most Freddies I’ve heard of and talked to are now goo-gooing over Romney. (That’s a fascinating commentary on ‘conservatism’ in itself; he would’ve had a snowball’s chance in the spiritual down under of getting their vote before that point–on the big three, the Freddies’ allegiances were ‘supposed’ to be closer to Huckabee than Romney. Huckabee must be contagious or something. :P)
For both Mitt and Mike, the issues run much deeper than how they claim to stand for conservative principles. (You’re right, forget McCain–there doesn’t seem to be a true conservative bone in his body; I think his spun image and his deep faith in American forgetfulness are what’s making him attractive.) And obviously, there are pros and cons in every candidate. But why would Christian conservatives not overwhelmingly choose one of their own, especially over a Mormon? I think the answer is in those deeper issues. We’re dealing with a spiritual realm running concurrent with the political sphere, a spirit that’s sowing in the hearts of Christians a blinding fog of confusion. Why else would self-proclaimed ‘Reagan conservatives’ go for a guy whose only honest claim to consistency is his likeness to John Kerry’s big, bad hair and flip-flops (gotta be something in Massachusetts water)?
There must be more to leadership than political expediency and throwing money at an issue, especially when the issue is electing the next President of the United States. For all your Romney friends and family out there, I’d strongly encourage them to research this man very closely before they fall head over heels for him. They can start the study right here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=a9IJUkYUbvI. This is a substantial clip from a 1994 Senate debate w/ Ted Kennedy–very insightful into the values and viewpoints of Mitt Romney.
Thanks for letting me rant (as if you had a choice in the matter). I should just blog about this on my own site instead of monopolizing yours. 😉 Love ya, man! Tell Anna and the Zekester hi for us! Go Huck!
On that Xango video, that is false advertising!!! I could take that one to court, but then… wait a minute… I would have to buy some and try it first! Such a cool video, and so much fun!

Very nice. Love the funny video of the homeschoolers 🙂
Praying for you often,
Laura
