The Date

Thanks to all of you that commented or sent email, etc. It’s a great blessing to have so many wonderful friends! This has been a fantastic experience so far, and I am looking forward to the rest of our lives together. I have a broader perspective on many things since beginning this wonderful relationship with Anna. For instance, I always believed, but now I understand experientially, that a virtuous woman is worth much more than rubies. In fact, there is nothing in the world that you could offer me that would make me  want to give up my Anna.

So we decided this week that January 13th, 2007, is the day we will be united in marriage. Wow! Sometimes it still seems kind of….surreal, or dreamlike, to say “I’m getting married in January next year.”  Or “See that girl over there? That’s my fiance.” It’s pretty amazing though. But I don’t want to gush because that might gross out my single friends. But trust me guys, once you get there you will have to restrain the gushing.

What’s really cool about the 13th, is that it is exactly one year, to the day, from the first time we saw each other in Wal-Mart. Not the first time we met, but the first time we remember laying eyes on each other. (We didn’t realize that until after we had sort of picked that day, and started wondering.) I will try to share more about that, and all the other details of our romance, tomorrow.

First day of courtship: September 11th, 2006. (The courtship officially began with a phone call on the night of September 10th.) Doesn’t she look cute? And boy am I beaming!

This is Anna in Virginia. She and I went to visit my family the first week in October. She really is quite photogenic, in my totally unbiased, neutral, objective opinion.    *sigh*    I love you, sweetie!
