The Way Back
I want to briefly mention some of the things that you can look forward to here at PreacherDad.com . We are engaged in a cultural war if you haven’t noticed. Some people get frustrated because they don’t know how to actively participate in the culture war.
How can you stand up and fight back? How can you make a difference in the name of Christ in our society to advance the gospel? How can we follow the biblical principle to make a difference in our culture, especially in the civic arena? I have some ideas for you. There’s things that you could do.
Ballot Box Battle
One is to vote. If you haven’t, if you don’t vote, you need to do so. That’s a huge one. And honestly, you don’t need to get too many people around you to vote Biblical values before we can start swaying elections in a very significant way. But we got to get out there and get in the fight and we have to be willing to persuade others to vote our way. Basically according to what we believe is Biblically right and true. And that essentially just comes down to being willing to have a conversation in which others might disagree with us.
Run, Forest, Run!
But in addition to voting, you can run for the school board. You could run for some other county or local elected office, if you feel the Lord leading you to that particular ministry. But that’s not the only thing you can do.
You can also volunteer with campaigns. They’re always looking for people to help out in various ways. And, no, you don’t necessarily have to get on the phones and make phone calls. They are other things you can do. You can also write letters to the editor for your local newspaper.
There’s various different things that people can do that will make a big difference for the sake of freedom, for the sake of Liberty, for the cause of Christ, who is the captain of our Liberty. We really are only free because of Him, and our nation is what it is because of the principles of Scripture that we apply.
Return to Biblical Principles
There’s another way that you can play a part, and that is what I’m doing this spring. I’m hosting a biblical citizenship course. It is designed by Patriot Academy, which was founded by Wall Builders. As many of you know, Wall Builders is a very trustworthy, God honoring, biblicaly based ministry that seeks to restore the principles of the Bible and the principles of the Constitution in our country.
They have designed a course that they offer absolutely free of charge. All you have to do is sign up to be a constitution coach, and they give you permission and training, as a matter of fact, to host that constitution class either in your home or your church. This course is called “Biblical Citizenship in Modern America.”
It is a class on the intent of the founders and what the Constitution is designed to do and how it can be applied in modern time. What are the biblical principles upon which our nation is founded and how can we return to them? How can we make them part of our lives and part of our civilization’s culture in modern times? This class is, I think, one of the ways in which we can help our friends and neighbors understand the truth and to help our nation come back from the precipice.
And friends, we truly are on the precipice of just unbelievable things. (Written before Russia invaded Ukraine, or $5 gallons of fuel.) I won’t go into that right now, but trust me I really believe the way back is not to run for Senate or to try to elect a different president. Although I think those things are worthwhile and we should pursue them. (I’m certainly going to try to elect a new president in 2024.)
But in the meantime we also need to try to take back our local communities. And if the fights on school boards have not revealed the need on a local level, I’m not sure what will. The school board fights that have taken place here in the past few months have just made very evident the fact that the progressive left is making inroads into local communities. In many, many cases they have developed a very strong foothold.
What does it look like to push back against the onslaught of the left? Well, it looks like trying to persuade our neighbors of the Truth, persuade them of what is right and what is wrong. Helping them to think principally based upon the Bible and upon the Constitution.
How do we do that? Well, one way is to just have them over for dinner. Have them over for dinner and just talk, and let the conversation go where it goes. But another way is to host a Biblical Citizenship class. I am very much looking forward to it. The few sessions I have heard already have been excellent!
I’d encourage you to go to biblicalcitizens.com or just do a duck duck, go search for Biblical Citizenship in Modern America.
Click on some of the links here in this article so you can find a Biblical Citizenship course in your community. And if you can’t find one, you can maybe host one. Or if you live in my community, you can come and do it with me. But I really think that this is one of the paths that we need to walk so we may get our nation back.
And I’m looking forward to doing that. I’m looking forward to sharing that journey with you. So far it’s been pretty user-friendly.
All right, well, stay in the fight out there. Don’t lose hope. We still have hope in Christ.
