What kind of follower are you?
The sermon from last Sunday was called “Three Followers – Three Responses” and was taken from Luke 9:57-62. It tells the story of three would-be followers of Christ, and what Jesus said to them. We would all do well to ask ourselves…..how do I follow Christ? What would he say to me if he were here right now? (To be honest, that makes me a little nervous.)
So many blogable moments from recently, I’m not sure which to pick. Let’s do it kind of like I get lunch every Sunday at our church potluck meal: a little bit of everything!
I’m taking counseling training this week, put on by the local pregnancy center. I’m learning how to counsel someone in a crisis pregnancy. It’s been good so far. (I also get to sit next to the most beautiful woman in the room each night, so that is a major plus!)
I’m getting a dog with this marriage. Missy is her name, and she is a great dog! We get along great, which is more confirmation that this marriage is God ordained and guided. Pictures later.
In looking at a passage to preach on, I came across an interesting translation. The bible says “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works…” but the “Contemporary English Version” says, “Make your light shine, so that others will see the good that you do…” Do you see the difference? One is me “letting” it happen, the other is me “making” it happen. Why do many modern paraphrases seem to lean towards the “man-focused, I can do it” gospel? Or should I say the “Lie of self-dependance?”
The invitations came. We now have a church and a location for the reception, both of which God provided for an extremely good price. The fabric for the bridesmaids dresses is ordered, a little later than we had hoped, but still in time. Not to mention all the other deals he is giving, and the gifts from dear friends, etc. All of this is from the Lord and I am extremely pleased and grateful to the Lord! I have no doubt that he will provide the needed funds for every detail.
But there is still lots of work to do, not including the daily work that I am putting off right now. Back to the books!
My love, you make me smile and through you God increases my joy! I don’t know if the muscles in my cheeks will ever be the same! Missy sends a bark…

Good post Jarod! You told us a little of everything that’s been going on in your life but didn’t make it too long so that we’d look at it and say “I don’t have time” :o) It was fun to read!
That’s so awesome that you get a dog!! I can’t remember if I met her or not when we were at the Clayton’s. Well, I look forward to meeting her and remembering :oÞ
A few people here are telling me how much I remind them of you. In my facial expressions and things especially :o) Not a bad thing ;o)
