What weapons are you using?
Here are the sermon notes from yesterday:
Put Down Your Stick…And Pick Up Your Sword!
The message went well, and God was very merciful. He gave me unusual energy, despite of my lack of sleep. Most everyone at church was kidding me about driving all night, or asking me if I was tired. You see, a couple of my friends and I traveled down to Louisiana for a wedding. We left on Friday night, traveled some distance, and got a hotel room. (Actually they got a hotel room while I slept in the car. I was traveling with two female friends. My car is pretty comfortable actually.) We slept a few hours and got up and ready on Saturday morning. We then traveled the rest of the way across Louisiana, taking a small detour through New Orleans, visiting the French Quarter and seeing some of the hurricane destruction. (That was very interesting. Disturbing, but interesting.)
So the wedding was not until 4:00 central time, so we had much of Saturday afternoon to just hang out. We went to Fazoli’s, a great Italian restaurant that I haven’t been to in ages. Very fun! Then the wedding… It was fun to see several old friends and meet new ones. The wedding was great, and I commented to my traveling companions that it seemed to be unusually joyful. It was like people couldn’t contain their excitement. The bridesmaids were practically bouncing off the ceiling! It was so worth all the effort to get there. What a fantastic day!
We left about 9:15 Eastern time, and I was able to sleep in the car until about 12:30 am. It was now Sunday morning, and to shorten this post, I’ll just say that I ended up staying up the rest of that entire morning (except for a short nap near the end of our journey) and I didn’t really go to sleep until about 2:00 on Sunday afternoon. It was quite the adventure! I love adventures, and that particular type of adventure is the kind you really can only do when you are young, single, and have drivers to help you. Thanks to my traveling companions, we had a wonderful trip!
I will post more on other topics when I have an opportunity. (I haven’t forgotten, RoomTempJ.)
haha…good times! I’m sure it was really fun, especially the sleeping in the car part on Friday night…. 🙂 Good to see you’re still having fun in-between the responsible stuff in your life. ;o)
love!

Jarod – It was SO GOOD seeing you all at the wedding!!!!! Thank you so much for making the trip! And WHAT A TRIP! I didn’t realize!!!! I would just love to do it all over again tomorrow Sure would’ve been nice if the wedding and reception could’ve lasted a WEEK…THEN I could’ve gotten to spend more time with everybody!!!!!
Yeah…Cat did have quite the “wow” group of bridemaids We had a great time. And who says a bridesmaid is supposed to just stand there and smile???? We had fun BUT – we really do need to learn the words to that hymn!!!!
So did you get turned around in the wrong direction as a song that I have seen on this blog before said usually happens?!?
Yes the hurricane destruction is interesting. I’ve been down there 3 times to visit friends in Slidell. On the last trip we went to the French Quarter and walked around. Did you have a beignet at Cafe du Monde?
j-rod,
sounds like a nice trip, man. I used to be king of the “did a lot on saturday, doing even more on sunday, but can look forward to my amazing nap in the afternoon” club.
I’d do it all again in a heartbeat (now that I’ve recovered )!! It was wonderful to see old friends, meet new ones and make fun memories going and coming. I’m grateful y’all invited me along. ‘Twas well worth the effort and lack of sleep! I’m so glad your car survived us… My confidence has definitely improved. haha! It’s probably a good thing you don’t have an issue with ownership!!
That sounds fun Jarod! I’m glad you got to go! I love going to weddings! And road trips are always fun too :o)

Jarod!
What fun! Glad to hear that you aren’t becoming all work and no play!
What fun! Nothing like staying up all night traveling….. We played a wedding one time after a return trip from the Indy Conference. Drove all night Friday night, arrive home, showered changed clothes, loaded the car, drove an hour and a half to play the wedding then came back home. Not something to make a regular habit of!
Did you walk through the French Market??? I bought some jewelry there….there is also a VW bug that hangs out there entirely covered with beads!!!!
Sounds like a great weekend….
Will comment on sermon notes later – got to get back to work!
